African American deaths 2

It’s Time You Knew:

Minority women constitute only about 13% of the female population (age 15-44) in the United States, but they have approximately 36% of the abortions.

  • African American women are more than 5 times as likely as white women to have an abortion. (Alan Guttmacher Institute)
  • On average, 1,876 African American babies are aborted every day in the United States.
  • Hispanic women account for 25% of abortions in the United States. (Alan Guttmacher Institute)
  • Hispanic babies are aborted at 1.5 times the rate of white children. (Abort73)
  • Hispanic women are nearly twice as likely as white women to have an abortion. (Abort73)

Why?

Is the abortion industry strategically targeting minority women? Consider this: a majority of Planned Parenthood’s abortion clinics are within walking distance of minority neighborhoods. John Piper, a white pastor committed to racial justice, observes:

“The de facto effect—I don’t call it the main cause, but net effect—of putting abortion clinics in the urban centers is that the abortion of Hispanic and Black babies is more than DOUBLE THEIR PERCENTAGE OF THE POPULATION. Call this what you will—when the slaughter has an ethnic face and the percentages are double that of the white community and the killers are almost all white, something is going on here that ought to make the lovers of racial equality and racial harmony wake up.” (Abort 73)

Is Abortion Racist?

Consider these two alarming insights: 1) Abortion disproportionally eliminates minorities. 2) Abortion also disproportionally eliminates the poor. You’re not the only one unsettled by this information. Many of those who devote their lives to seeking justice for human life are also distressed.  Alveda C. King, the daughter of slain civil rights leaders, A.D. King, and also the niece of Martin Luther King, Jr., quotes her uncle when sharing her opposition to abortion:

“(Martin Luther King, Jr.) once said, “The Negro cannot win as long as he is willing to sacrifice the lives of his children for comfort and safety. How can the ‘Dream’ survive if we murder the children? Every aborted baby is like a slave in the womb of his or her mother. The mother decides her own fate.” (Abort 73)
